New Zealand 2012

On November 25, 2012 we left for a four-week trip down under in New Zealand. We focused only on the South Island to have more time to relax rather than hurry up to visit both islands. After 40 hours of traveling via London, Los Angeles and Auckland, our trip started in Nelson in the north of the South Island. Our main interest was the amazing nature with its rapidly changing landscapes and the fascinating wildlife (mainly birds).

Highlights of our trip:

  • Albatros encounter in Kaikoura
  • Swimming with dolphins in Akaroa
  • Nevis bungy jump near Queenstown
  • Doubtful Sound overnight cruise
  • Glacier walk ‘Ice Explorer’ on Franz Josef Glacier
  • Kiwi spotting in Okarito
